DAY 2: Someone you like (celebrity, significant other, or crush)
Someone I rike is Hideo Kojima
“Just as pranned.”
There’s an old man meandering around my old above ground room. Nobody told me why he’s there because everybody has already gone to bed. I’m both not suprised by this and too sick to care.
And this time it was was actual vaguely coherent and my mind structured it into something subconsciously relevant, althought it could have been because I played Civilization V up to 3 Am last night.
Anyway the whole idea materialized as a sort of webcomic style medium, with simple art and it went something like this; The story was about a gamer guy type going to University, and meeting a group of other gamers post haste who invite him to a lan party. The entire thing is initially set up so it looks like it’s about to become a “two gamers on a couch” comic. You know, the genre that’s been done to death. Anyway, the main character would join them, but this would conflict about his thoughts of university and eventually growing up and gaining responsibility in the world. The night progresses, and eventually that sort of “immersion” effect happens where we begin seeing the characters in place of their character avatars. In this case it’s not so much immersion as much as the implication that somebodies spiked the drinks and more than a few people are currently tripping balls (Spaced did something similar).
Anyway, the night progresses to the point where everybody has either left or gone to sleep, save for the main character and another player. The two continue the quest, discussing similar thoughts on their initial foray into university and adulthood that the main character initially had.
Eventually, the trip gets much less potent and much more, and the two characters, now plain clothed, find themselves tied up and dangling over a cauldron of glowing green gunk with monsters diligently moving around. It occurs to the players what they’ve been going through for the past few hours (fighting monsters, mostly) and the two panic at what they feel is their impending doom.
This culminates into a “If I survive I’ll live my life” speech from each as they are still hanging over the pot. Around this time, one of the players notices a group of plain, relatively average looking girls across from them, a reinforcement that perhaps they’re not in some sort of drug trip and also a play on the love at first sight idea (more on that in a second).
Anyway, by swinging over one of the male gamers is able to begin un-tieing the female groups ropes, in hopes that the four girls will be able to overpower the guards and free the men. The plan naturally doesen’t work out, and while attempting to swing away from the pot as they untie themselves all the girls end up falling into the pot.
Along with this, the cauldron spills over, slathering the other monsters in the green goo and also knocking over the other cauldron. Seeing a chance, the men drop down onto the ground and begin to make their way through the chaos.
It’s about now we see what effects the goo has: It has fused the girls and monsters together, into freakish monster things. Both visibly shaken, the two men flee from the chaos and into the castle.
The two soon come across a large glowing blue portal and another woman. The woman claims to have been part of the group who dropped into the cauldron, but managed to avoid being turned into a monster. The two men are skeptical of this, one more so than the other, pointing out that the woman could be another cauldron spawn, citing examples like one of the women he talked to having blonde hair and it wasn’t her. This is intended as another throwback to the web comic trope of having a pretty smart girl to sometimes act as the straight women in such things, or as subtle sex appeal. In this case the woman is intentionally drawn with heavy focus on the hour glass figure (Some of you are familiar with how I draw people: bulbous square heads and slouched posture, so this would be a clear differentiation and intentional sex appeal hook) and spoke in thing veiled innuendos.
However, the discussion is soon cut short with the arrival of the goblin looking guards. The woman, panicked, attempts to go through the portal too escape, where she is promptly reduced to a skeleton.
Worried, but with literally no other options than capture, the two men jump through the portal.
We are then given a scene of the two awakening, and then promptly discussing what they just went through. Both sort of believe it to have been a drug trip, although they’re both still hesitant to call it that.
Without any options, the two decide to get cleaned up for class and agree to hang out some other time, having become fast friends over the course of their “adventure”.
And that’s more or less what I dreamed about. Won’t deny most of the “worried” about adulthood stems from similar thoughts on my end, and all the video game stuff was probably from that Civilization V bender.
Although, I don’t really know where that “horrible stuff happens to women” thing came from, although I’d guess it’s more of a deep cynicism towards that web comic genre I spent this entire post writing about.
N.J. woman gives birth on train to Manhattan
I mean I guess Im happy for her, but that would be so gross to see some random woman give birth to the most densely populated part of the country on a train… yuck.
